How do you feel about a husband and wife going to two different churches?

I have this situation with a good friend. He and his wife both belonged to a prominent church which split over the ordination of a lesbian leader. She went with those who were in opposition while he felt it was a denominational question that didn't affect his local church. I think that they are missing a great deal in not worshipping together. Knowing the husband, I feel he is staying in loyalty to associates and friends rather than considering the theological implications. But then we generally can rationalize the things for which we have a strong desire.
