Dear Fred

Do you think it is ok for a non drinking Christian to dine at a restaurant that serves alchoholic beverages?

Fred's Response

I assume you are opposed to the practice of drinking. Do you feel the same way about grocery stores that sell alcoholic beverages? Drinking has never been a temptation for me and so I don’t try to avoid places where alcohol is sold or served. Again, as a general rule and as a non-drinker I have avoided sitting in hotel or restaurant bars for fear that I would be thought of as a drinker. I also avoided restaurants with bars when the family was young so that they didn’t think of drinking as an acceptable pattern.
