What is the importance of a specific life philosophy?

Our philosophy should unify us. I was very impressed by one of the devote followers of Dr. Ghandi, who I met. He said Dr. Ghandi in everything he did was an expression of his religion. So many of us are segmented, without a unifying theme that runs through the segments. Generally, if we have intellectual integrity this lack of a unifying philosophy will produce inner conflict.
