Dear Fred
As a leader my desire is to develop and encourage others to reach their full potential. Can you provide your insight in the area of balancing encouragement, and accountability?
Fred's Response
Be sure that your desire for their development fits their talent and passion, and not just yours. Let them know the joy of accomplishment and recognition. We have a great tendency to repeat that for which we have been rightfully recognized. Mere compliments will get repetitive and weaken. You want the person to understand that accountability relates to their responsibility for accomplishment. Accountability becomes a character matter. We see this in developing countries where we are offering freedom without responsibility. The ultimate accountability is to please the Lord, not just us.
