I am pretty sure that the tongues the Disciples spoke on the Day of Pentecost were languages of people on the earth...most specifically those Jews who were there from all over the Roman empire from different language areas. Have you formed an opinion yet, and does it really matter one way or the other?

I think the Scripture is clear by naming all of the countries and saying that each understood in his own language. It seems clear that it wasn’t ecstatic speech but language in common use. I think the interpretation of scripture always matters. Recently we have been reading Dr. J.I. Packer’s excellent book which deals with this subject, Keep In Step With The Spirit. I would recommend this to you.
